OMEGA-7 fatty acid

Monounsaturated fatty acids predominate in the oil found in fruit flesh, with palmitoleic acid (palmitoleic acid) accounting for 40% on average. Palmitoleic acid is also known as omega-7 fatty acid.

The oil in the flesh of sea buckthorn is one of the best plant sources of this fatty acid.

Omega-7 fatty acid inhibits inflammatory processes and increases cellular insulin sensitivity, thus counteracting insulin resistance and contributing to the prevention of many diseases of civilisation, such as type 2 diabetes, atherosclerosis and heart attacks.

Research has shown that omega-7 fatty acid has hormone-like effects and can prevent fats from being deposited in inappropriate places, such as the liver, thereby reducing the risk of developing fatty liver.

In addition to this, the fatty acids in sea buckthorn also allow the fat-soluble vitamins (K and E) also found in the berry to be absorbed and effectively utilised by the body.
